Designed for the competent woodworker. The advanced workshop will go through the fundamentals and details of the varieties of tone woods used for guitars, why they are used, and the best way to care for them. The advanced builder will be able to choose from BYG’s stock or order in their own desired wood. The advanced builder will be creating every piece needed from raw materials to finished components. With the BYG Model “Peech” BD2048 (Dreadnought similar to the Martin D-28) or the BYG “Kuwi” BDC2048 (Dreadnought Cutaway similar to the Martin D-28) advanced builders are able to select, shape, and fashion all of the 16 main components. Some power tools like routers, band saws, and mitre saws are used, as well as hand tools such as chisels, hand planners, and sanding with various mediums will be required.

The advanced workshop is a great way to enhance your existing woodworking knowledge and gain a greater understanding of Luthier artistry. With the ability to shape and hone all aspects of the guitar, you are truly creating a unique one-of-a-kind sound and visual experience. The Advanced Workshop is broken down into 19 Sessions for a total of 100hrs to be used over a 12-week period, giving you the freedom to move at your own pace. Individual build sessions may range anywhere up to 5hrs depending on the stage you’re at.
